Frequently Asked Questions

Here's what we usually get asked

Do I need a referral to book?

No. You can book directly with our Winston Hills team. If you have a Medicare Care Plan, Workers Compensation, CTP or private health cover, please bring the relevant details to your appointment.

Can physio or chiropractic care help lower back pain?

Physio and chiro may help with lower back pain by assessing movement, joint mobility, muscle function, posture, strength and daily activity habits. Your treatment plan will depend on your symptoms, history and goals.

What happens at the first appointment?

We start with a 1:1 assessment to understand your back pain, how it affects your movement, and what may be contributing to it. Treatment may include hands-on therapy, education, movement advice and tailored rehab exercises.

Will I just be given exercises?

No! At Activ Therapy Winston Hills, we focus on hands-on care, practical advice and a clear treatment plan. Exercises may be included where appropriate, but they are tailored to your presentation and explained clearly.

What if my pain travels into my hip, glute or leg?

Lower back pain can sometimes be associated with symptoms into the hip, glute or leg. We can assess your symptoms and advise whether physio, chiropractic care, GP review or further investigation may be appropriate.

How soon should I book if my back pain keeps coming back?

If your lower back pain keeps flaring up, affects sitting, bending, lifting, work, sleep or exercise, it is worth having it assessed. Early assessment may help you understand what is contributing to the problem and what steps may support your recovery.
